Consultant Cardiologist | Coronary Interventionist
Dr Joshua Chai is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. He studied medicine at University of Cambridge where he was elected Rolleston Scholar of St John's College. He was awarded the prestigious Medical Research Council clinical research fellowship to pursue his doctoral research and was awarded his PhD in Cardiovascular Medicine from University of Oxford.
He is an advanced complex coronary interventionalist having trained at St George's and King's College Hospital in London, before embarking on further advanced training at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in Dorset. He is currently the Clinical Lead in Chest Pain Service at Wexham Park Hospital and chairs the weekly Cardiac CT MDT. Dr Chai was instrumental in the introduction of state-of-the-art intracoronary imaging, as well as advanced calcium modification techniques into the armoury of Wexham Park's Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories.
Dr Chai maintains an active research interest in atherosclerosis imaging and vascular biology and has won many accolades including the Young Investigator Award from European Atherosclerosis Society, Finalist award from American Heart Association, and the President Prize from the Royal Society of Medicine. He was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2020.
